Undersecretary for International Trade, Grant Aldonas, visited Krakow on October 4th. Previously on October 1-4th he met in Warsaw with prime minister Leszek Miller as well as ministers of economy, finance and agriculture.
Participants of meeting with Center of Oncology staff The visit of Grant Aldonas in Krakow was both a public and a media event. First he met with the Gliwice Center of Oncology at Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum which recently got unique American equipment for genetic research as a result of cooperation with Affymetrix Company. The meeting was attended by several top scholars in medicine and molecular biology. The media present at this event emphasized the extreme importance of this unique equipment in the fight against cancer. During his afternoon encounters with academia and the press Mr Aldonas underlined Malopolska rich intellectual potential which is attractive for American business and trade circles. American investors are used to a very competitive environment and do not fear it as long as the competition is fair. In an exclusive interview for RMF Radio Economic Facts program the Undersecretary emphasized the need for fair and transparent regulations that remain in force for long periods of time. Students of the Economics Academy during Grant Aldonas's Lecture Mr Aldonas also referred to the Polish role in the EU which should be independent and creative rather than one of submissive fulfillment of the EU demands. That was the message the Undersecretary conveyed to an audience of 300 students at the Economics Academy in a lecture titled "American-Polish Economic Relations in the New Europe." The press conference that followed attracted several media outlets including TV, radio and press and resulted in numerous articles and broadcast reports.
